I also recommend Sambar in Ballard, and there are a couple of quirky places beyond that worth trying too.

And Sambar ain't half bad either!

You talk a lot about atmo -- I can't say I really miss the dizzying, 2001: A Space Odyssey-like lighting in ZigZag's bathroom. :)

Looking forward to trying Vessel. Hopefully it'll be open when my kid is old enough to be left with a sitter and not freak out.

Jessica: But it's true! :D

Paul: Yeah! And they're even open weekdays in the daytime, which means there's a built-in slot for me to visit without feeling like I am missing out on a Zig Zag opportunity!

Tea: They *are* both amazing, in their own ways. And Seattle may just turn you into a mixed-drinks lover. That's certainly where we became <strike>drunkards</strike> cocktail aficionados.

I love the juxtaposition of the two bars, both of which you make sound amazing. Perhaps I should be getting more serious about cocktail drinking...

A-freaking-men, Anita. It's easy at first glance to just think of Vessel as another swanky downtown watering hole, but Jamie & his crew are up to something really spectacular. Housemade bitters, immaculately crafted drinks -- what's not to like?

This may be the first time that I've ever heard Seattle called a small city! :-)
