In 3 1/2 years, since moving here from NYC, I still haven't been able to find a decent pizza in San Francisco. What are we to do? It is enough to make me curious to try to make my own but I just know that I won't be able to rival that made in an 800-degree pizza oven. BTW, I love Cook's Illustrated too. Costco has their cookbook, "The New Best Recipe" for only $20, reg. price $35, in case you want an old-fashioned hard copy instead of looking things up on their website. I can’t agree with you more. I refuse to patronize restaurants that don't have the decency to treat clients like human beings. And yeah, the location is a major hurdle: We haven't even been back to Mamacita, which we loved, in the same 'hood. And sure, Pizzeria Delfina is pretty darn good, tho to your point you are paying for the hipness and the Central Casting staff than for the pizza. And there's mixed reviews on A16, but who the hell wants to go to the Marina, anyway? So. What are our next steps? Shall we plead to Signore Batali to grace our city with a true pizzeria napulitan?
