Hi, Tea...

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who misses the Market like a friend (even if she is bitchy, snobby, and generally fickle). There must be more people who feel like us, don't you think? :)

I know what you mean! I've been out of town and got back to SF so late last Friday that I just couldn't drag myself to the market on Saturday morning. All week I still haven't felt like I'm home--and the fridge is still bare. I'm looking forward to checking in this Saturday. Though there are things about the market scene that irritate, it is my touchstone.

I gave up on the Ferry Bldg FM a few years ago when my kid picked out one apple and it cost more than three dollars. The Friday FM in Old Oakland is much, much less sexy, but I've also never had to count backwards from 100 so I didn't punch out a group of Pacific Heights socialites who pushed me aside on their way to CG Creamery....

I actually bought two of those sunchokes last week and used them in a fall vegetable salad recipe... they were tasty!

We still miss you and the market isn't the same. However, we are tough survivors!
I saw David Little had sunchokes and lots of them. The oranges are coming on full force. There was a Fungus Festival today which sounded queer but was great. All the shops and many vendors got into it. It was packed but people were in a pretty good mood. But at one point (around 1:30 pm) there was that bad drummer, the clock tower, motorcycles with no mufflers and that frigging Salvation Army ringer. My nerves!
